Barclays Center 2012-13 College Basketball Schedule Tips-Off Friday, Nov. 5 with No. 3 Kentucky vs. Maryland

BROOKLYN (November 6, 2012) – Six of the nation’s Top 25 ranked college basketball teams will headline a spectacular inaugural season of BROOKLYN HOOPS™ at Barclays Center beginning Friday, November 9 when NCAA defending champion and No. 3 ranked Kentucky faces Maryland at 8:30 p.m. in the Barclays Center Classic presented by Sheets™ Brand Energy Strips on ESPN.

The Barclays Center college basketball franchise BROOKLYN HOOPS™ is presented by Ticketmaster, with other partners including Applebee’s, GEICO, High Point Solutions, LG, McDonald’s, Modell’s, Powerade, Duracell Powermat, Reese’s, Spike TV, and SportsCare.

Following the Barclays Center Classic, which also includes a match-up between LIU Brooklyn and Morehead State, the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic will be held on November 16-17. The semifinals on Friday, November 16 feature No. 25 Florida State vs. Brigham Young followed by No. 22 Notre Dame vs. St. Joseph’s. The Championship and consolation games will be held on Saturday, November 17. All of the tournament games will be broadcast on truTV. The 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic is an annual basketball event hosted by the Coaches vs. Cancer program to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to fight cancer.

The impressive college basketball schedule at Barclays Center continues two days later with the Progressive Legends Classic on the ESPN Networks. On November 19, the tournament will feature an exciting doubleheader of No. 1 Indiana vs. Georgia, and No. 13 UCLA vs. Georgetown, with the championship and consolation games taking place on November 20.

Past champions of the Legends Classic include Vanderbilt (2011), Syracuse (2010), Florida (2009), Pittsburgh (2008), and Texas (2007). In the first four years of its existence, the Legends Classic featured six teams that went on to advance to at least the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

The BROOKLYN HOOPS™ Winter Festival presented by Honda™ by will be held Saturday, December 15 with a tripleheader that includes local favorites Fordham vs. Princeton and St. John’s vs. St. Francis of Brooklyn. The featured game will pair No. 5 Michigan vs. West Virginia, two storied college basketball programs which will meet for the first time.

The BROOKLYN HOOPS™ Holiday Invitational presented by Muscle Milk will close the 2012 college basketball schedule with a tripleheader on Saturday, December 22 starting at 3 p.m. The three games include local and southern schools: Tulane vs. Hofstra; South Carolina vs. Manhattan; and Seton Hall vs. LIU Brooklyn.

The always competitive Atlantic 10 Conference Championship comes to Barclays Center from March 14-17, 2013, with the championship game to be broadcast on CBS. The Tournament is being held for the first time in the metropolitan New York area. In addition, Barclays Center will host the A-10 Conference Women’s Basketball Championship game on Saturday, March 16 on the ESPN Networks.
