Jan 25, 2013

National Grid is the Official Energy Partner of Barclays Center and  Proud Energy Partner of the Brooklyn Nets

BROOKLYN (January 24, 2013) - Barclays Center has launched ’B’ Green presented by National Grid, a fan engagement program designed to inspire Barclays Center guests to help the environment through easy and fun activities based on the sustainability practices the arena is incorporating into its own operations. As the proud energy partner of the Brooklyn Nets and the natural gas provider to Barclays Center, National Grid is the perfect partner to help raise awareness on environmental initiatives to help both the arena and its fans ‘B’ Green throughout the year.

‘B’ Green presented by National Grid will engage fans through a series of environmental outreach events associated with Brooklyn Nets games during NBA Green Week, Earth Day, America Recycles Day, and more. In addition to these activities, National Grid is sponsoring environmental messaging across all LED signage at Barclays Center, inside playbills, and on concourse displays at all arena events to educate guests on Barclays Center’s and National Grid’s environmental efforts.

During every event, guests can also enjoy the Grid Zone, presented by National Grid, located on the Ticketmaster Concourse at Barclays Center. The Grid Zone features comfortable lounge seating, a large screen monitor, phone charging stations, energy efficiency information, and photos relating to the history of National Grid in Brooklyn.

”National Grid provides green initiatives to help customers use energy wisely and protect our natural resources including rebates for high efficiency energy-saving equipment, paperless billing to help reduce consumption of paper, and working with consumers interested in converting to clean burning natural gas.” Said Jim Madej, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer for National Grid. “Our partnership with Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets supports our ongoing efforts to help our local communities get the most out of their energy usage.”

Barclays Center is operated by AEG, the most environmentally focused arena managers in the world. Through the AEG1EARTH program, Barclays Center is measuring and quantifying the impact of AEG and Levy Restaurants operations at the arena and implementing best practices to reduce its environmental footprint.

”Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets have made protecting the environment a priority, and National Grid is helping make that possible through the ‘B’ Green program,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets. “By sharing our environmental successes, we want to inspire our guests to take responsibility and reduce their environmental impact.”
