Leon Bridges to Perform at Inaugural Barclays Center Cares Gala, Shining a Light on Brooklyn

Oct 5, 2017

BROOKLYN - Singer-songwriter Leon Bridges will perform at the inaugural Barclays Center Cares gala, Shining a Light on Brooklyn, on Thursday, October 12 at the historic Liberty Warehouse on Red Hook’s Pier 41.

The GRAMMY®-nominated recording artist is a client of DUMBO-based Mick Management, which works with a multitude of acclaimed artists across all genres. As part of the partnership, Barclays Center Cares will be making a donation on Bridges’ behalf to the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, which offers music education to people of all ages.

“I am excited to partner with Barclays Center Cares to share my music in support of a good cause,” said Bridges. “It is my hope that this contribution will help impact and inspire others through music education, as it has profoundly influenced my own life.”

At the event, which will honor key people who have made a mark on their communities through music, athletics, culinary arts, and sustainability, Bridges will perform to a crowd which includes industry and community stakeholders with close ties to Barclays Center, cultivated over the venue’s five-year history.

Since opening in September 2012, Barclays Center has become part of the fabric of Brooklyn, contributing economically, socially, and culturally to the borough. The venue has grown into one of the leading arenas internationally in sports and entertainment, having hosted more than 1,000 major events.

Proceeds from the gala will benefit the venue’s foundation, Barclays Center Cares, which supports community programs for kids and families by working with more than 300 schools, food pantries, homeless shelters, health facilities and nonprofit organizations.
