Davidson’s Gibbs Earns Player of the Week Honors

GEORGE MASON'S LIVINGSTON II NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Gibbs finished the week averaging 37 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists, while shooting 42.3 percent from 3-point range (11-of-26) and 87.5 percent from the free throw line (21-for- 24). After scoring 31 points and handing out six assists at Dayton, the guard from Westerville, Ohio, capped his week with a career-high 43 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in Davidson’s win over UMass. In addition, Gibbs became the 48th player in school history to hit the 1,000 point plateau. The 6-0 point guard also finished 15-of-16 at the charity stripe and was two rebounds and two assists shy of a triple-double against the Minutemen. Gibbs won the A-10 Player of the Week award for the second straight week and the fifth time this season. Gibbs has more than 40 points three times this season, more the any other Division I player.

Livingston extended his streak of double-figure scoring games to seven straight, averaging 15.5 points for the Patriots. A guard from Linden, N.J., Livingston opened the week with 14 points against Saint Joseph’s, hitting six field goals and with four assists. In Mason’s first conference win of the season, Livingston matched his career-high with 17 points at Saint Louis, shooting 5-for-11 from the field, including a 3-for-5 effort from 3-point range. He was perfect (4-for-4) from the free throw line and set a new career high with six assists. For the week, Livingston shot 50.0 percent (11-for-22) from the field and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the charity stripe, while dishing out 10 assists.

Dayton’s Dyshawn Pierre averaged 21 points and 7.5 rebounds, including a 16-point, 10-rebound doubledouble in two key wins for the Flyers … UD freshman Steve McElvene scored 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks in the win over George Washington … Duquesne’s Micah Mason averaged 21 points per game last week, including tallying 27 in a win over St. Bonaventure, hitting 50 percent from the field and 13-of-13 from the line … Marquise Moore had a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double, shooting 81.8 percent (9-of-11) in George Mason’s win at Saint Louis … Tyler Cavanaugh averaged 22 points in two games for George Washington, including scoring 26 at Massachusetts behind a 13-of-15 performance at the line … La Salle’s Jordan Price scored 20 points, hitting 8-of-13 from the field against Rhode Island … Jarvis Garrett recorded 17.5 points per game, scoring 19 versus La Salle on 6-of-10 from the field, 6-of-6 at the line while dishing out four assists against La Salle … Richmond’s Terry Allen had a 26-point, 16-rebound double-double, having hit 10-of-12 from the field with three assists and three blocks against La Salle … Denzel Gregg shot 57.1 percent (12-21) from the field to average 20.5 points per game for St. Bonaventure … Saint Joseph’s DeAndre’ Bembry had back-to-back double-doubles last week, with 16 points and 11 rebounds and eight assists at George Mason, followed by 26 points and 12 rebounds versus Fordham … Saint Louis’ Mike Crawford scored 22 points on 10-of-19 (.526) from the field and 2-for-4 (.500) from 3-point range against George Mason … Justin Tillman had a 27-point, 10-rebound double-double for VCU versus Fordham, hitting 11-of-14 (.786) from the field.
