Brooklyn Art Encounters is an art program that commissions leading contemporary artists to Barclays Center’s public spaces, interior architecture, digital environments, and surrounding communities.
Showcasing artists from Brooklyn, New York, and around the world, the program places art in Ticketmaster Plaza, throughout Barclays Center, and at other venues within the Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment brand portfolio. Brooklyn Art Encounters collaborates with artists, museums, and cultural organizations to activate shared civic spaces where sport, culture, community, and commerce come together.
Like athletes and artists, our audience is as exceptional as it is multifaceted, coming together across distances and differences at games, concerts, and events of all kinds to share in an appreciation of public art. Our program foregrounds these intersections, amplifying the forces that shape how fans experience place, belonging, and shared celebration.
Everything we do is rooted in the creative spirit of Brooklyn, reflecting the borough’s vitality while engaging a global artistic community. Our program commissions local artists alongside artists of international stature, partnering with leading cultural institutions, and collaborating with local communities to expand access to world-class art in our home of Downtown Brooklyn.
Art on the Hour
This new series, created in partnership with Barclays Bank, presents 60-second digital works by internationally recognized artists. At the top of every hour, these works are broadcast on Barclays Center’s renowned Oculus screen in Ticketmaster Plaza, directly outside the arena. This rotating exhibition of time-based contemporary art invites video and animation artists to present work beyond traditional gallery settings, weaving their art into the daily rhythm of the city.
