Atlantic 10 Announces Impressive Basketball Legends Class

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The 2016 Atlantic 10 Legends class, which features seven All-Americans, 11 professional players and 21 institutional Hall of Fame members, was announced Wednesday.

DeAndre’ Bembry Takes A-10 Player of the Week Honors

Bembry, a forward from Charlotte, N.C., averaged 22.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in two wins for the Hawks. He shot 67.9 percent (19-for-28) from the field and added five steals and two blocks in the two victories.

VCU’s Melvin Johnson Named A-10 Player of the Week

Johnson, a guard, averaged 19.5 points and shot 50 percent (15-of-30) from the field, including 47 percent (8-of-17) to lead the Rams to a pair of conference wins.

St. Bonaventure’s Adams Named Player of the Week

Adams led the Bonnies to a 2-0 week, averaging 25 points, 5.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. The guard from Baltimore, Md., also shot 15-of-30 (.500) from the field including 9-of-19 (.474) from 3-point range and 11-for-12 at the free throw line.

Duquesne’s Derrick Colter Takes A-10 Player of the Week Honors

Colter, a cancer survivor, averaged 25.0 points and 3.5 assists in back-to-back Coaches vs. Cancer week wins over La Salle and at Saint Louis.

Dayton’s Cooke Named A-10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Cooke led Dayton to a pair of road wins, scoring 47 points while taking just 22 shots. He averaged 23.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals a game, shooting 72.7 percent (16-of-22) from the field and 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from 3-point range.

Davidson’s Gibbs Earns Player of the Week Honors

Gibbs finished the week averaging 37 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists, while shooting 42.3 percent from 3-point range (11-of-26) and 87.5 percent from the free throw line (21-for-24).

St. Bonaventure’s Adams Earns Player of the Week Honors

In two Bonnies wins, Adams averaged 23 points, 8.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds and shot 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from the field, 10-for-16 (62.5 percent) from 3-point range and a nearly perfect 12-of-13 (92.3 percent) at the free throw line.

Miles’ Career Double-Double Earns Player of the Week Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Saint Joseph’s senior Isaiah Miles was named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday, while freshmen DeAndre Abram of George Mason was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week.

Davis Named A-10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Davis scored the second-most points in UMass history when he had 40 in a 103-95 overtime victory versus New Orleans Wednesday.

Richmond’s Allen Selected as Atlantic 10 Player of the Week
